Green Prompting: designing AI interactions with sustainability in mind

Everyone uses AI, from highly skilled tech enthusiasts to individuals with few digital skills. We’ve all heard about the importance of prompt engineering, and that writing "good" prompts leads to higher-quality responses from LLMs. We’ve also heard about AI's significant environmental impact. But what if we could combine these two aspects and create prompts that align with sustainable goals? In this session, I will introduce green prompting and share instructions that anyone can apply. I will show that, by carefully crafting prompts, it is possible to reduce the environmental footprint of AI systems while maintaining high-quality results.
